The group includes roots used for sugar production. The part consumed/analysed is by default the whole or a portion of it representing the observed heterogeneity. When relevant, information on the part consumed/analysed has to be reported with additional facet descriptors.

Generic term (Level of detail)

A term that pins down only a food's general nature, not its specific source (e.g. 'Dried vegetables', without saying which vegetable). Used only as a fallback when nothing more specific applies. ↩

Food taken straight from its source — harvested, milked, slaughtered and so on — with no processing that changes its nature. Think fresh fruit, raw milk, or a cut of raw meat. ↩
