The group includes all members of the free-floating aquatic microorganisms organisms, constituent of plankton that drift, float, or weakly swimming in aquatic habitats. The most important types of zooplankton include the radiolarians, foraminiferans, cnidarians, crustacean, chordates, molluscs, rotifers, open water insect larvae and aquatic mites.
